We encourage and support participation in our community by bringing people together to connect, collaborate and celebrate.
We aim to increase awareness of local resources, focus on specific neighbourhood actions, and build the capacity of our citizens to actively identify and act upon local issues.

New Name, Broader Scope for Task Group

Last summer, the former Tri-Cities Homelessness Task Group got a new name and an expanded scope when they became the Tri-Cities Homelessness & Housing Task Group. The change reflects their growing focus on housing affordable to low and moderate income households.

Affordable Housing for Seniors

Late in 2012 Coquitlam Council approved the rezoning of 352 Marmont Street to facilitate the conversion of an existing duplex to seven fully-furnished one bedroom units of affordable housing for seniors.  The housing will be owned and operated by the Bulgarian Home Society, with financing in part provided by BC Housing.  The facility will be operated under a Housing Agreement with the City and an Operating Agreement with BC Housing to ensure that the housing remains affordable and dedicated to seniors in perpetuity.

Three Things Campaign

The Tri-Cities Homelessness & Housing Task Group's Addictions – Mental Health Subcommittee created their Three Things Campaign just over a year ago to foster a community in which all human beings are treated with dignity and respect, regardless of station in life or substance misuse issues. They accomplished this by encouraging the community to view addiction in a new light.
